The opening day of qualifying at the Bratislava Open 2026 ((ATP Challenger Tour, clay, 160, 680 € + H) delivered several high-quality matches and determined the players who advanced to the qualifying finals. The biggest joy for the home crowd came from Slovak tennis player Andrej Martin, who defeated fifth seed Daniel Michalski after a thrilling three-set battle.
Martin won his first-round qualifying match 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(8) after more than two hours of play. Spectators witnessed one of the most exciting matches of the opening day.
Several other seeded players also lived up to expectations. Top seed Lukas Neumayer defeated wildcard Michal Krajci 7-5, 6-4. Second seed Buvaysar Gadamauri overcame Matthew William Donald 7-6(5), 6-3, while third seed Hynek Barton beat Sebastian Sorger 6-3, 6-1.
Fourth seed Martin Krumich also progressed after defeating Viktor Durasovic 6-4, 7-6(1). Spain's Alex Marti Pujolras knocked out tenth seed Benjamin Hassan 7-6(4), 6-2, while Frenchman Mathys Erhard comfortably defeated Fares Zakaria 6-2, 6-1.
Among the Slovak players, Tomas Lanik, Michal Krajci, and wildcard Max Lörincik were eliminated. Lörincik lost to seventh seed Abdullah Shelbayh 2-6, 2-6. Another Slovak player to exit the competition was twelfth seed Milos Karol, who fell to Spain's Nicolas Alvarez Varona. As a result, Andrej Martin remains the only Slovak player still in contention for a place in the main draw.
The qualifying finals are scheduled for Monday and will determine the last remaining spots in the main draw of the ATP Challenger Bratislava Open. Home fans will continue to support Andrej Martin, who will be aiming to secure his place in the tournament's main draw.
