Slovak tennis player Andrej Martin was pleased with his progress to the next round, although he admitted that his performance still left room for improvement.

“Thank you for the congratulations. It wasn't an ideal match from my side, especially in the first set where a lot of things didn't go the way I wanted. To be honest, my serve wasn't working throughout the entire match as well as I would have liked. That's why I won't just be resting today. I'll have a practice session to make sure everything is in order, and hopefully I'll be better prepared for tomorrow's match,” Martin said.

The experienced Slovak noted that his game improved as the match went on and that he managed to find his rhythm at the crucial moments.

“Towards the end of the match, things gradually started to improve. I knew I still had some room for improvement and that I could play better. Today, I also had a good dose of luck on my side, which is sometimes part of tennis.”

Martin also highlighted the positive impact of his recent results on his confidence.

“I've won three important matches in a row, so naturally my confidence is growing. When you're winning, you're in a better mood and you feel more comfortable on the court. Hopefully I can carry those positive feelings into the next round as well.”

Asked about his physical condition, Martin admitted that the previous days had been demanding.

“The last few days were quite tough. I've played a lot of matches and done a fair amount of travelling, so I was feeling the effects of that. Today, though, I felt much better. During the match I knew I still had some reserve left in me. Hopefully, with good recovery, I'll feel even better tomorrow.”

Martin was also asked about becoming the tournament's record-holder by making his 11th appearance at the event.

“It's a nice number. I always try not to miss domestic tournaments whenever my schedule allows it. I enjoy coming back here because I have the support of my family, friends and Slovak fans. That's something I really appreciate and it gives me extra energy on the court. That's why I'm especially happy to have advanced to the next round once again,” Martin concluded.
