Bratislava Open 2026: Kokkinakis retires, domestic players out of singles

The clay-court Bratislava Open 2026  (ATP Challenger Tour, clay, 160, 680 € + H) has concluded its round of 16 duels, bringing disappointment for the favorites and an end to the road for the Slovak representatives. Spectators on the Center Court witnessed the premature exit of the star Australian as well as the elimination of the Slovak players.

The day's biggest attraction had a quick end when the Australian Kokkinakis retired after just under 50 minutes at 2-5 down, allowing Sachko to advance.

A sensation was caused by the young Italian Cina. He dominantely controlled the first set (6-1) against the tournament's number three seed. Choinski leveled the play in the second set, but Cina showed stronger nerves in the business end, celebrating a valuable victory with a 7-5 result.

The Slovak wild card holder, Lukáš Pokorný, was no match for his Czech opponent. The experienced Kolář protected key breaks in both sets, delivered a solid performance, and eliminated the young domestic player from the tournament.

Slovak qualifier Andrej Martin fought a balanced battle against the young Petr Brunclík. The first set went to the Czech (6-4), but in the second, Martin pushed the game all the way to a dramatic tiebreak. In the end, Brunclík had more luck on his side, capturing the tiebreak by a score of 7-5.

In the completion of the opening round, Brazil's Reis Da Silva confirmed the pre-match predictions, giving his Bulgarian opponent no chance and advancing smoothly.
