Bratislava Open 2026: Thursday Brings Key Battles for a Place in the Next Round

Bratislava Open 2026 (ATP Challenger Tour, clay, €160,680 + H) continues on Thursday with another exciting day of tennis, featuring both singles and doubles action, including several matches involving Slovak players.

One of the highlights of the day will be the round-of-16 clash between Czech qualifier Hynek Bartoň and top seed Aleksandr Shevchenko (KAZ). Bartoň has been one of the tournament’s surprise packages and will look to continue his impressive run against the tournament favorite.

Attention will also be on Maxim Mrva, one of the promising members of the “Next Gen” generation of young players making their mark on the professional tour. The Czech talent faces eighth seed Chun-Hsin Tseng (TPE) in the round of 16. Tseng, a former Roland Garros junior champion, will provide Mrva with his toughest challenge of the tournament so far.

Qualifier Taro Daniel (JPN) will take on second seed Emilio Nava (USA), while another round-of-16 encounter features Zsombor Piros (HUN) against João Lucas Reis da Silva (BRA).

Slovak fans will be especially interested in the doubles competition. An all-Slovak pairing of Jozef Kovalík and Andrej Martin will face Miloš Karol and his Croatian partner Nino Serdarušić, guaranteeing Slovak representation in the next round. Another Slovak, Lukáš Pokorný, remains in contention alongside Ukrainian partner Vitaliy Sachko, as they take on the Brazilian duo of Pedro Boscardin Dias and João Lucas Reis da Silva.
